Can you believe it’s already October?!? The Wave Droids have been hard at work since kickoff teaching members the layout of our room, setting up the field, and designing our robot. We also had a whole-team meeting to plan our strategy for the season, and we’re feeling pretty inspired for INTO THE DEEP.

We had an excellent first official practice last night! Starting off with a whole club meeting, we welcomed our new members and recognized all of the adult coaches and mentors who are assisting us this year. (Thank you so much to Megan, Jim, Kylie, Jim, Jarett, Peg, Jim, Mrs. Bird, and Kevin!)

Jim Walbeck gave a great presentation on the engineering design process, then we did some hands-on learning in the robotics room.

State 2024 was an amazing experience for the Wave Droids, and we are so grateful for the opportunity to participate. We went 4-2 in matches and placed 11th in our division, but most importantly, we had an awesome time together as a team! Thank you to every volunteer, coach, and adult who made this championship happen! With any luck, we’ll be back this March. 🌊🦾

We’ve been so busy preparing for state that we almost forgot to talk about LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP! 🏆🦾🌊

We had to wait a whole month after the original date due to snow, but February 17th was a great day to be a Wave Droid. We went 4-2 in our qualification matches and placed 9th and were selected for the 4th Alliance by @falconbots10656 and joined by #5445 Scramblers. Through amazing teamwork and great competition, our alliance won! We also had the great honor of receiving the 1st place Inspire Award, a first in our team’s history! Last but certainly not least, our phenomenal programmer Clay was recognized as a Dean’s List Semi-Finalist.

None of this would have been possible without our wonderful alliance partners, coaches, mentors, and the volunteers who made the event happen. Special thanks go out to Scramblers and our mentor Brad Gilbert for helping us with various emergency fixes midday. 😅🥰
